Never ever we have been able to look so far upon us, fathom the depth of the universe. But what does that? The space around us is visually increasing, can we handle that? There are photographic images send in from coordinates where we have never been or never will be. Why to experience this as reality if it still only can be an assumption?
Instead of looking up, I look down and disappear into the paper of my book, there I create my space, which is as unfathomable as the universe, but tangible and closer. The content and form of this space are changing every time, separated and made understandably by points behind the senses.
There are probably far more points put by people than there are stars in the universe.
I explore this idea and discover that paper is as cosmic as the universe.

The 52 periods found in the first chapter of Kurt Tucholsky’s The Book of the Pyrenees from 1927, are being projected onto the empty pages of a dummy. Every eight seconds, I turn over another page, right before the next period is projected. All periods, scaled 200:1, have different shapes and blend into each other. I am showing a new found Universe, densely concentrated. The music used in the soundscape are the first seconds of Neptune (The Mystic) from Gustav Holst’s The Planets from 1914.

Nog nooit hebben we zover van ons af kunnen kijken, de diepte van het heelal kunnen peilen. Maar wat levert dat op? De ruimte om ons heen wordt visueel alleen maar groter, kunnen we dat aan? Er komen fotografische beelden binnen van coördinaten waar we nog nooit zijn geweest en ook nooit zullen komen. Waarom dit dan te beleven als de werkelijkheid als het toch alleen maar een aanname kan zijn?
In plaats van naar boven kijk ik naar beneden en verdwijn in het papier van het boek, daar vorm ik mijn ruimte, die even onpeilbaar is als het universum maar tastbaar en dichterbij. Telkens verandert de inhoud en vorm van deze ruimte, gescheiden en begrijpelijk gemaakt door punten achter de zinnen.
Er zijn waarschijnlijk tot nu toe al meer punten gezet door mensen dat dat er sterren zijn in het universum.
Ik onderzoek deze gedachte en ontdek dat papier even kosmisch is als het heelal
