Ellipse

A text does contain a lot of points. On closer inspection seems that a point can be something very different than the end of a sentence. Point, Pupil, Phantom Point; there is the Point, point. But there is also the Pupil wherby a text receives light and there is the Phantom Point where everything floats what is not said, that point can disappear but you still do feel that point. Hereby a text becomes suddenly three dimensional. The points do look the same, but they are certainly not. How to read a text now? How to determine the points?

The Dots of Ellipses sign also known as ellipse is present on the wall, a fusion of text and image. The writer leaves an open space for the thoughts of the reader, the suggestive effect. The artist uses the the Dots of Ellipses as image, also in ink but reshaped. Through approach of the visitor the work changes from an independent image into a text related work, bound to thoughts.

 

 

Punt – Pupil – Fantoompunt / Point – Pupil – Phantom Point

Een tekst bevat veel punten. Bij nadere beschouwing blijkt dat een punt heel anders kan zijn dan het absolute einde van een zin. Punt, Pupil, Fantoompunt; er is de Punt, punt. Maar er is ook de Pupil waardoor de tekst licht ontvangt en er is de Fantoompunt waar alles in drijft wat niet is gezegd, die punt kan verdwijnen maar je blijft die punt voelen. Hierdoor wordt een tekst ineens drie-dimensionaal. De punten zien er hetzelfde uit maar dat zijn ze zeker niet. Hoe een tekst nu te lezen? Hoe de punten te determineren?

Het beletselteken ook wel ellips genoemd staat op de muur, een samensmelting van tekst en beeld. De schrijver laat met het beletselteken ruimte open voor de gedachten van de lezer, het suggestieve effect. De kunstenaar gebruikt het beletselteken als vorm, ook in inkt maar verschaald. Als de bezoeker nadert verandert het werk van een zelfstandig beeld naar een tekstgerelateerd werk, verbonden aan gedachten.
